This was a strange project to pidgeon hole. It was intended to be a storage area above a top floor tenement flat, but with full building warrants required all the structural upgrades of a complete conversion. Accessed via a space saver staircase, with a 200mm thick thermal fire break around the staircase it is a substantial project.

The pride of the Royal Lifeboat Service, their latest and biggest boat. She's built on a 'self-righting' principle, to cope with the ultimate in rough seas! She's also the first British lifeboat to be fitted with radar. When her trials are completed, she'll be leaving Littlehampton - for Edinburgh, and after that she'll be based at Yarmouth. Sanding and preparing walls for decoration using the Mirka Deros and Mirka Dust extraction unit. I'd normally be covered from head to toe in dust as would the room and dust sheets but with the extraction unit dust is a thing of the past!!
For the final time operated by DRS, the Southampton - Scotland and vice-versa "Boat Train" is seen passing Shawford on 15th December. At the front was 47810 "Peter Bath MBE 1927 - 2006" while tailing was 47501 "Craftsman"; the train was 1Z92 Southampton Western Docks - Edinburgh. It is believed that DBS Class 67's will take over the running of this service.
The Cruise Saver Express Tribute (best known as the DRS Boat Train). This is a highlight video of the train in action in the south of England. It ran from Scotland either Edinburgh or Glasgow to the ports of Southampton as a cheap alternative to flying there and back. The Boat Train has now finished for reasons not known yet but we hope it makes a return some time? It ran from April 2011 to December 2012.
This conversion is in a long and relatively low roof, within an old stone farm cottage. Accessed via a space saver staircase, and using two Velux windows, one small and one large. And completed with a remote controlled colour changing LED lighting system. (Light specific video available on our YouTube channel)
This conversion is in a W Fink truss roof in a traditional brick built house. We had to build brand new trusses inside the attic and fix them directly to the original trusses. Accessed via a paddle type space saver staircase to maximise the space in this small two bedroom house. DRS locomotives 37602, 37259 (not 256 as stated on the video) and 47810 'Peter Bath M.B.E.' are seen working the Cruise Saver Express from Eastleigh to Edinburgh through Godalming in a rare working for the Portsmouth Direct line. The train usually runs via Basingstoke and Reading, however engineering work in the Basingstoke and Reading West areas saw the train diverted via Guildford and Woking. This is the first time I have ever filmed the Cruise Saver Express since it started running, so it's safe to say it's a huge catch to see it passing my local station! Filmed in partnership with ChuffersProductions.
